# Subscript

> Connect Subscript to Numeral through QuickBooks Online to automatically apply sales tax to invoices.

To use Numeral with Subscript, you'll create a three-way connection: Subscript ↔ QuickBooks Online ↔ Numeral. Subscript pushes the invoices it generates into QuickBooks Online, Numeral applies the correct tax rate within QuickBooks, and Numeral pulls the resulting sales and tax data from QuickBooks to handle filing.

## What you'll do

2. Connect QuickBooks Online to Numeral

## Step 1 — Connect QuickBooks Online to Subscript

1. Log into your Subscript account.
2. Open the **Integrations** area (**Settings > Integrations**).
3. Select **QuickBooks Online** from the available general ledger integrations.
4. Follow the Intuit prompts to authorize and connect your QuickBooks Online account.
5. Confirm the **QBO sync is turned on**, so invoices generated in Subscript flow into QuickBooks Online.

  You may need to ask Subscript to enable the QuickBooks Online sync before Numeral can apply tax rates to your invoices. Confirm the sync is active on the Subscript side before continuing.

## Step 2 — Connect QuickBooks Online to Numeral

1. Log into your Numeral account.
2. Go to **Connections** in the navigation menu.
3. Click **Add a Connection**.
4. Select **QuickBooks Online**.
5. Complete the authorization process to link your QuickBooks account to Numeral.

## How It Works

Once both connections are established, here's what happens automatically:

1. **Invoice Creation** — When you create an invoice in Subscript, it syncs to QuickBooks Online.
2. **Tax Calculation** — Numeral calculates and applies the appropriate tax rate within QuickBooks.
3. **Invoice Update** — The invoice reflects the correct tax rate through the QuickBooks sync.
4. **Data Collection** — Numeral pulls your sales data and tax information from QuickBooks to handle tax filing on your behalf.
